A Thinking Approach

Lorena Villa practices from a psychodynamic, depth‑oriented framework. Rather than prioritizing quick fixes, her work seeks to understand underlying problems in detail and to determine, for each unique situation, what is needed to make sense of overwhelming experiences, overcome obstacles and patterns, and foster lasting change.

In addition to extensive experience in in‑depth, ongoing psychotherapy, Lorena has advanced training in brief, solution‑focused approach, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing (EMDR) and other time‑limited methods for clients seeking improved functioning, clarity, and relief from recurring patterns of distress.

Spanish-Language Therapy Rooted in Cultural Understanding

Lorena Villa provides therapy only in Spanish. Her bilingual background and lived experience of migration inform a culturally attuned practice, not only in offering care in another language, but in understanding how cultural context shapes the experience and expression of psychological distress. She brings direct experience of migration, cultural transition, and the demands of building a life across worlds.

About

Lorena Villa was born and raised in Mexico City and is trained and licensed in both the U.S. and Mexico, with over 15 years of experience across community agencies, healthcare systems, and private practice. She founded her practice to make therapy accessible to the Hispanic community in their native language, offering compassionate, straightforward care grounded in clinical training and real-world experience. Her clinical focus grew from witnessing how tailored, empathetic therapy helps people move from overwhelm to agency—especially during life transitions and trauma recovery.
